WCC’s purpose is to gather to discuss elixirs, liquids, brews, and bring back the craft that women once dominated. 〰️

I created this group because I discovered that women were the original brewers, and I wanted to create a welcoming atmosphere that would invite women (and everyone else) into the world of beer and brews. It's fascinating to think that this ancient craft dates back thousands of years, with women playing a prominent role in its history. As the Smithsonian Magazine published in a compelling article, women have been brewing beer since the days of the Vikings and the Egyptians, using their skills for both religious and practical purposes. From sacred rituals to sustaining communities, women have left an indelible mark on the brewing world throughout history. It is a rich heritage that we aim to celebrate and embrace here at our group, by exploring the fascinating stories behind these old traditions and by creating a space that celebrates the contributions and legacy of women in brewing.

Over time, it became more dangerous for women to practice brewing. They were accused of witchcraft, often with resulted in prosecution or a death sentence. The threat of independently wealthy, unmarried women was seen as a threat to society.
